As I mentioned in the last blog, it's hard to ferret out the rumors coming from informed sources and those getting floated by fans, sometimes in the form of questions or speculation. Social media ubiquity and a lot of interest in this year's trade season seems to be fueling speculation to an all-time (and confusing) high.
There's a lot of chatter right now surrounding the Hawks and Montreal—and this could be nothing more than fans jumping on Marc Bergevin being in town last night. This morning, the Twitter feeds of myself, Bob MacKenzie and a few Chicago beat writers contained a tweet from a guy claiming to have a tip on a Patrick Sharp for Lars Eller deal.
As I told the guy who tweeted it, I don't see that deal without other players being involved. And if they are, who knows?
From a source I have gotten good information from in the past, the Hawks are rumored to be talking to the Sens about defenseman Patrick Wiercioch.
Sit down, buckle up, it's gonna be an interesting deadline.
