Famous Dainius Zubrus has been named the new president of Lithuanian Hockey Federation.
On Friday the presidential election was held where the final stage saw two people running for the chair - Zubrus and former organizational leader Petr Nauseda.
In his election speech, Zubrus noted that Lithuanian hockey needs new activities and a new direction. Darius Kasparaitis was also present at the event showing his support to Zubrus while also noting that Nauseda would also be a good candidate.
The electoral vote didn't have to happen as Zubrus' opponent stepped down and by default, the chair of Lithuanian hockey was awarded to the only remaining candidate.
Zubrus is currently living in Miami and doesn't appear to have any interest to move back to his home country after earning his new position there but has said to visit it more often in the future.
