Wings clipped by Jets 5-2 (Red Wings)

Summary: Well, technically the goalie didn’t let in 4. Unfortunately the rest of that is one more for good measure for Winnipeg. 5-2 and outshot 41-28. The second period felt like the standard hole digging that the team gets at some point. 4-1 at the end of 2. Kane gets on the board, and the time looked similar to the last game. But, the third goal never came.

There just aren’t too many ways to turn this over right now. The team is playing poorly in their own zone and the goalies aren’t able to make game stealing saves. The two nights that they did, Detroit couldn’t score goals. This just feels rough.

The team is off the rails right now. Maybe a Christmas break will help reboot the system. There’s just nothing left to say. Wins are the remedy and giving up 4 or more isn’t going to lead to that. Let me know what you think from a player standpoint, a coaching standpoint and a manager’s perspective. Where does the change need to be implemented?

First Period Detroit goals: No First Period Detroit goals

First Period: With 4:22 left in the first Winnipeg scores on a tip. Looked like Reimer could have gotten it but a different angle made it look like it was just out of reach. 1-0 Winnipeg.

Score: 1-0 WPG Shots: 11-10 WPG

Second Period Detroit goals: Maatta gets on the board

Second Period: 1:44 into the second period Detroit ties the score as Copp skates into the O zone, gets the puck to Kane who catches Maata entering the zone and Matta wrists in the tying goal. 1-1

At 7:41 Winnipeg regained the league. 2-1 WPG

At 10:50 Winnipeg scores again as Detroit turned the puck over in the O zone and let one of the Jet’s get behind them in the neutral zone. Poor coverage again.

At 16:10 the traditional 4th goal made its way in. 4-1 WPG

Score: 4-1 Shots: 30-16

Third Period Detroit goals: Kane gets Detroit’s 2nd

Third Period: Let’s not talk about it

Final Score: 5-2 WPG Final Shots: 41-28 WPG
