Will Tonight “B… Any Different? (Red Wings)

When the Detroit Red Wings showed up at TD BankNorth Garden on October, they were a bunch that was ripe for the picking, and they were picked clean, drubbed 8-2 by the Boston Bruins. “I think at that time we were fragile from a confidence standpoint, having not won any games,… Detroit coach Jeff Blashill told DetroitRedWings.com. “I thought we had played good coming into that game and all the four previous games to that but we hadn’t won. I actually thought we played really good in the first period in this building in that game, but once it started to go the wrong way, we lost our focus on continuing to make sure we play right. “It was a lesson that hopefully we learned. Sometimes, you learn it once and you’re fine, and sometimes you’ve gotta learn it multiple times. I hope we don’t have to learn it again.… You could make the argument that the Wings are in remedial class when it comes to their Boston studies. The Wings have lost 11 in a row at Boston since April 18, 2014. “The fans are always into it right away,… Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader said of the Boston rink. “We’ve got to make sure we go out and play good right from the start, because they’re going to get rolling and then the crowd gets going and it’s a tough building to play in.… Blashill is of the opinion that pinning the blame on the facility only facilitates seeds of doubt in the collective psyche of his team. “I think it has more to do with their team than it has to do with the building,… Blashill said. “It’s a good building, the fans are good, but they’ve got a really good hockey team. They don’t give you much, they play very good defensively, and they can put you on your heels with their north game.… The Wings are coming into this game off an 8-4-1 November that included a 3-2 victory over the Bruins on Nov. 21 at Little Caesars Arena, and hope the combination of those two factors can add up to an end to their persistent Boston massacres. “I think for certain we have more confidence,… Blashill said. “For certain I think we’re mentally tougher because of some of the adversity we went through early. “I think we can come out and have a real good game here tonight.… Follow me on Twitter @asktheduffer
