A win and a better Wild performance last night at the XCEL Energy Center. Still the team is working their way back to the form and structure that we had gotten used to seeing through the first half of the season.
The special teams are still an issue along with some better defensive structure.
We are at the trade deadline for all intents and purposes as the lock ticks til the Monday final call. The Wild do not play until Saturday and then their first post deadline match is Monday evening against Vegas.
Where is Bill Guerin in the process of making his team better? He claims that it would take something very special for him to move a first round pick.
Does he try to upgrade the goaltending? That seems more of a longshot.
Does he pull the trigger to bolster the defense? This appears to be the more likely scenario.
Is there a center that can help or at the very least be an upgrade im the faceoff circle?
The Wild have a quality team but it is not yet ready to compete with rhe big boys of the NHL. That has come to light over the first two months of 2022. Winning in the postseason is where this team needs to be focused at this point. Yes, they are on the rise with the young talent however with the cap situation their opportunities are not guaranteed.
