The Wild get back at it tonight after getting beaten once again by the Flames on Tuesday night 5-1. Four straight losses and six out of seven the Wild are officially in a funk.
Their lone victory in the last seven games was not a very good game by the Wild either despite the final score being a 7-3 victory over the Oilers. In that game the Wild were outplayed and outshot and if it weren't for shoddy goaltending we may be talking about a seven game skid.
In the Wild's defense they actually played a far better game on Tuesday and set a franchise record with 48 hits. They outshot the Flames and showed signs that they are getting things figured out again. That does not bode well for the Flyers tonight.
One thing the Wild have done this season is take care of business against the team's that they should beat. These next couple on the road in Philly tonight and Buffalo tomorrow are games the Wild must coke out of with four points.
The Flyers are in the midst of an awful season and Wild fans can sympathize with Flyer fans as they remember all too well how Chuck Fletcher had left the Wild prospect cupboard pretty bare. Now he has Mike Yeo and John Torchetti behind the bench in Philly and former Wild depth players Gerry Mayhew and Nick Seeler are logging significant minutes with the Flyers.
This is a bad Flyers team, that has been decimated by injury and inconsistent play from many ofbtheir veteran players. The roster today is a shell of what Fletcher and Yeo had envisioned before the season began. There are just far too many fring NHL players on the Flyers roster and the results are showing just how that plays out in today's NHL.
Tonight should be a great opportunity for the Wild to break out of their swoon and gain some confidence back.
Wild captain , Jaren Spurgeon, s set to play his 744th NHL game which will place him one ahead of former Wild defenseman and current Flyers assistant coach, Nick Shultz for most games played by a Wild defenseman.
It's always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
