Paul Fenton has been fired by the Wild...more to come..
The Tampa Bay Lightning moved out the final year of injured winger Ryan Callahan's contract on Tuesday to Ottawa for goalie Mike Condon and an exchange of mid-round draft picks.
The deal makes sense for both clubs, since Condon has a $2.4 Million cap hit next season and makes $3 Million in the final year of his deal, but just over $1M of that can be buried if he is sent to the AHL and the Lightning are looking to open up cap space this summer to get Brayden Point signed.
Callahan has a $5.8M cap hit ($4.7M in real money) and that would not have been able to be put on LTIR to open up cap space since Tampa was not close to cap limit, but it will help Ottawa get to the cap floor for little money out of pocket, since the Sens will likely get a sizable chunk back from insurance.
