And this year, we head into the season with a wide-open field for the NHL Rookie of the Year...Looking at the Vegas odds we can really see how many guys could actually take this award.

There is no doubt that this is an exciting group....MacTavish absolutely has had the good press and his play in the recent World Junior Tourney showed that he is more than ready for the NHL...We got to see Power and Beniers play towards the end of the NHL season and both showed glimpses of just how awesome they could be....
The Canadiens top pick overall Slafkowski will bring some flash and flair to Montreal while Shane Wright will get plenty of opportunity in Seattle and has a huge chip on his shoulder...
But San Jose's William Eklund is the guy I would look out for. Besides having a great name, Eklund is dynamic and nearly made the Sharks last season...at +1600 I think he is the best bet on this board.

The Avalanche added EVEN more depth and skill by signing Evan Rodrigues to a one year, $2M contract.. Rodrigues has to be pinching himself today. As a middle six guy, Evan could put up 20-25 goals easy. I am really shocked that other teams weren't willing to go a little more in on this guy...
Suzuki is the new Habs Captain.
Nick Suzuki was named to one of the highest positions in all of sports today...to captain the Montreal Canadiens..Gotta love this kid's game and his leadership...He came out today in his press conference and made his first bold statement saying the team believes they are a playoff team.
Finally...maybe the sneakiest and best signing this summer...
Aston-Reese on a PTO in Toronto. This is EXACTLY the player the Leafs need.
