What About BOB! (Blue Jackets)

What about Bob indeed!

Once again the trade deadline moves (and non-moves) have paid off big for Columbus. Panarin had 3 points, two of them goals and the shot (assist) on the 2OT goal that gave Duchene the rebound he needed to stuff the game winner home. And Bob was simply outstanding.

Managing the D

Torts and staff managed the D minutes much better than in Game 1. Jones, while logging 38:01 of ice time showed no signs of fatigue. Kukan skated 25:08 and was in the game at critical times in OT and 2OT. Savard was once again quietly one of the best players on the ice. Clendening and Harrington continue to gain experience and were trusted more in the first two periods.

Line Up Change

Wennberg drew back into the line up as Dzingel sat. I'm sure this didn't go over well with Ryan. This change may have been for a few reasons. Wennberg plays well in the D zone and is a particularly good PK center. It also could have been a message from Torts to Dzingel. He was all but invisible in Game 1 and has not registered a point in the playoffs.

Playoff Bob

This edition of 'Playoff Bob' has been what CBJ fans have been waiting for. His saves have been of the highlight reel variety. The stop he made on Bergeron in OT may have saved the series for Columbus.

Expectations for this Series

There is a new view of these Blue Jackets here in Columbus. The fans believe. With this belief comes expectations. That begs the question, does that put pressure on the Jackets to win? Or are they playing with house money?

They have exceeded the pre-playoff expectations without a doubt. At the end of this run, however long or short it may be, during the off-season Columbus will be able to look at it more objectively and view what has already been accomplished as a success.

For now, being on this playoff run is unexpected and certainly what has been missing from Columbus hockey.

What are your expectations of these Blue Jackets after their first 6 playoff games of 2019?

Is this a Cup-worthy team?
