The Los Angeles Kings played three games last week and today, a key prospect was called up to the taxi squad. Here's a recap of news and notes from the week.

KINGS WIN ONE OF THREE GAMES

The Los Angeles Kings won one of three games last week. The Kings picked up a win over the Anaheim Ducks early in the week, before dropping games on back to back nights to the Minnesota Wild and Arizona Coyotes.

ROY RETURNS TO LINEUP

Defenseman Matt Roy returned to the lineup against the Ducks on Tuesday, after missing time due to COVID protocol. Roy hadn't played since April 2.

BYFIELD PROMOTED TO TAXI SQUAD

Earlier today, it was announced that 2020 second-overall pick Quinton Byfield would be joining the taxi squad. Byfield has spent the year with the AHL’s Ontario Reign, where he has eight goals and 20 points in 30 games. Byfield practiced with the Kings today and it remains to be seen as to when Byfield will make his NHL debut.

As for our poll question this week, here are the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out:

QUESTION: Do you see Trevor Moore staying with the Kings long-term?

(Votes: 158)

Yes: 77% No: 23%

I definitely agree that Moore has earned his spot and can be counted on to be a part of the future. While he’ll likely play in the bottom-six, he’s been a consistent, reliable forward for the Kings this season.
