Turris OT winner gives Senators 3-2 series lead over Rangers (Senators)

Fist off, I hope everyone is keeping safe from the flooding in the Ottawa area, and both ways up and down the Valley. By all accounts it is a pretty scary situation and has gotten even worse since I left on Friday morning and I hope it lets up soon.

The Ottawa Senators held onto home ice advantage and by doing so they have pushed the Rangers to the brink of elimnation.

They managed to put 5 goals past Henrik Lundqvist in just under 67 minutes, and Kyle Turris played the hero, scoring the overtime winner.

I didn't get to see this one, being in Virginia at an event, but was following along with the score and the messages I was receiving told me that I am going to have to watch it when I get home late tonight. And my cheap hotel Wi-Fi isn't even letting me watch the highlights properly so I am doing this blind.

I was following along during overtime and the subsequent review for offside, one that was upheld correctly as Turris was in control of the puck when he crossed the Rangers blue line despite being in before the puck, and did get to see that highlight.

Judging by the boxscore, Erik Karlsson must have been feeling pretty good, playing over 31 minutes, being +3 and having 3 assists, and Chris Neil had a whopping two and a half minutes of ice time and 12 minutes in penalties. I sort of saw what happened and Tanner Glass refusing the challenge, but did it really have an impact on the game, that would be my question. Did his presence give the team a lift, because from my limited viewing it nullified what was going to be a Senators power play at a time when they were trailing 2-1. Then again they did score twice within five minutes of the incident, so when I go back to watch am I going to see them play bigger or was it just an event in an otherwise crazy game?

Well, regardless of that fact, the Senators completed another comeback, with a late goal to tie it up and another OT win, pushing their record in 1 goal games to 7-2 (5-1 in overtime).

Now they just need to find an answer at MSG given an extra day of rest, so that they can finish the series in 6, because even though it will be at home, I don't think they want to have a game 7 showdown. It is nice to have the second shot at advancing in their back pocket, but it would be nice to not have to use it.

Well, time to pack up and head home...and after the 12+ hour drive watch a game that I already know the result of!
