The importance of size and sandpaper; ex-Leafs playoff update (maple leafs)

Be sure to like HockeyBuzz on facebook! For the latest Leafs updates or on Twitter The Toronto Maple Leafs must make significant changes in the upcoming offseason to get a club rich in offensive talent to be more multi-dimensional in the playoffs when games are won with defense, size, and players who play with sandpaper. A good example of this is the Tampa Bay Lightning, who were frustrated and shut down as the Leafs were by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2019. The Lightning made only a few changes last summer, but at the trade deadline added forwards Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow, and depth defenseman Zach Bogosian to improve their depth. All three have been key contributors to Tampa this season against the Blue Jackets. Goodrow and Coleman have been excellent as penalty killers and along with linemate Yanni Gourde accounted for both goals in Tampa’s 2-1 victory on Monday. Bogosian (who the Leafs were reportedly interested in after Buffalo terminated his contract in February) has provided a big body presence and veteran experience on the blueline that the Leafs lacked after Jake Muzzin was injured in Game 2.
