Quick update - I stayed away for a few days. My decision had been made before I knew anything about the NHL shutting down for 2 days (for those who listed that as a reason). To so many of you, thank you. Your support is incredible. I love hockey and I love the fans. Now, it feels like a war breaks out every time there is a disagreement. I’ve been called many awful things, and encouraged to contemplate dying. I want to believe we can find a space again to peacefully enjoy what we love. I just don’t know if it’s a reality. Most of you have been amazing. I am trying to find a good head space and figure things out. I’d hoped things would look brighter after a few days, but they seem to keep getting worse. Here’s hoping that one of these tomorrows is brighter, for all of us.
This is one of the most painful moments for me in a lifetime of painful moments. It’s time for me to move on from Hockeybuzz, and the sport altogether. I’ve loved this sport for most of my life, and this blog has been a gift and a blessing. I’ll miss you all.
I find myself on the outside of the masses in terms of things that never should have taken over this sport. Politics have destroyed the NHL for me. In the end, I believe this blog, and the world in general, are better off if I just stay out of it.
