For the second straight game since the trade deadline, a new acquisition made a big contribution for a Senators' win.
Viktor Stalberg tapped home a loose puck to open the scoring for the Senators in his second game with the team as the fourth line scored a rare goal.
The game winner off the stick of Zack Smith was the always exciting short-handed goal into an empty net as the Blue Jackets pulled the goalie to get a 6 on 4 advantage late in the game, for his league leading fourth shorthanded marker of the season.
Erik Karlsson also scored for the Senators, who won their second straight game and look forward to a huge game Monday night against the Bruins. It will be the proverbial four point game and a chance to move four points up on the Bruins for second in the division, or on the other hand Boston could move into a tie in points (albeit Ottawa holding two games in hand.)
I am still out of town/province/country so I didn't see this one and the internet didn't allow me to see the highlights very smoothly so I don't have much more to give for this one. But it looked like Ottawa played their usual bend but don't break, as they each had 27 shots on goal, and Ottawa doing another good job of getting in front of shots, blocking 24 of their own.
