Quick Hit: Patrick Dealing with Abcess (Flyers)

The Flyers gave some additional clarification to Nolan Patrick's status on Friday evening. The second overall selection of the 2017 NHL Draft has not skated as originally scheduled this week. The Flyers explained that he was dealing with a facial infection and further clarified it yesterday as an abcess/boil.

The reason why the team was so specific in this instance, no doubt, was to short-circuit speculation that he had a setback in his recovery from sports hernia surgery. In a statement, Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said Patrick "is doing well."

No specifics were given yet for his return to the ice.
