Pre-game Report (Game 24): CAR @ DET (Hurricanes)

*Apologies for no game recaps/previews in the last two days. I’ve been travelling and didn’t have time to get them out.*

Having won five of their last six games, the Carolina Hurricanes are in Detroit tonight to face the Red Wings. Here’s the pre-game report.

The Red Wings are having a hard time. They’ve lost five games in a row and have allowed at least four goals in each of their last four games. Adding to their struggles is the fact that Anthony Mantha, who leads the team in goals and points, will be out for tonight and possibly a while.

Dylan Larkin has just four points in his last 11 games and Jimmy Howard, who’s expected to start, holds a brutal .883 save percentage and 3.98 goals against average in 12 games this year.

For the Hurricanes, Andrei Svechnikov is riding a seven-game point streak coming into tonight and has 10 goals and 18 points in his last 13 games. Dougie Hamilton enters the game leading the league in goals by a defenseman. James Reimer is expected to start for Carolina.

The Hurricanes took the first meeting of the season between the two teams earlier in November by a score of 7-3.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
