Pre-game Report (Game 2): CAR @ WSH (Capitals)

In a rematch of last year’s first round series, the Carolina Hurricanes travel to Washington to face the Capitals tonight. Here’s the pre-game report.

According to NHL.com's Harvey Valentine, Carolina’ projected lines are:

Svechnikov - Staal - McGinn Niederreiter - Aho - Teravainen Dzingel - Haula - Necas Foegele - Wallmark - Martinook

Slavin - Hamilton Edmundson - Pesce Gardiner - Fleury

Reimer Mrazek

A bit of juggling right wingers here. Brock McGinn will be playing with Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov, while Teuvo Teravainen will be on Sebastian Aho’s wing with Nino Niederreiter. On top of that, Martin Necas moves up to play with Ryan Dzingel and Erik Haula, while Jordan Martinook moves to the fourth line to place with Lucas Wallmark and Warren Foegele. Jake Gardiner remains on the third pair and Trevor van Riemsdyk remains out with a shoulder injury, while James Reimer is expected to get his first start as a Hurricane.

Here are Washington’s projected lines, according to Valentine.

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Wilson Vrana - Eller - Oshie Hagelin - Stephenson - Panik Leipsic - Dowd - Hathaway

Siegenthaler - Carlson Orlov - Jensen Fehervary - Gudas

Holtby Samsonov

The Capitals enter the game 2-0, beating both the St. Louis Blue and New York Islanders to start the year. Braden Holtby will be back in net after Ilya Samsonov got his first NHL win last night in New York. Washington is playing their third game in four nights.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
