Pre-game Report (Game 11): PHI @ NYI (Islanders)

The New York Islanders host the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, looking for their seventh straight win. Here’s the pre-game report.

According to NHL.con’s Brian Compton, the projected lineups are:

NEW YORK

Anders Lee - Mathew Barzal - Josh Bailey Derick Brassard - Brock Nelson - Anthony Beauvillier Ross Johnston - Cole Bardreau - Oliver Wahlstrom Michael Dal Colle - Casey Cizikas - Cal Clutterbuck

Adam Pelech - Ryan Pulock Devon Toews - Scott Mayfield Nick Leddy - Johnny Boychuk

Semyon Varlamov Thomas Greiss

PHILADELPHIA

James van Riemsdyk - Claude Giroux - Jakub Voracek Oskar Lindblom - Sean Couturier - Travis Konecny Michael Raffl - Kevin Hayes - Joel Farabee Tyler Pitlick - Mikhail Vorobyev - Chris Stewart

Ivan Provorov - Matt Niskanen Travis Sanheim - Justin Braun Shayne Gostisbehere - Robert Hagg

Carter Hart Brian Elliott

Tom Kuhnhackl and Matt Martin are both supposed to be out 4-6 weeks, adding to New York’s injury troubles. Leo Komarov is out with an illness, while Jordan Eberle and Andrew Ladd are still sidelined. Derick Brassard remains on the second line (and it worked out well last game, so why not?).

I don’t really know why the decision to slot in Ross Johnston with Cole Bardreau on the third line is being made rather than having Michael Dal Colle in the top-nine. Dal Colle hasn’t been great thus far but pushing him down to the fourth line in a different kind of role certainly isn’t going to help. Semyon Varlamov is expected to start in net, while Noah Dobson is back in the press box.

The Flyers have won three straight coming into today’s matchup, including a win over Columbus yesterday. Nolan Patrick and Scott Laughton are out while Samuel Morin is scratched. Carter Hart is expected to start in net.
