Pre-Game Notes: VGK vs AZ (Coyotes)

On the heels of a 4-2 victory in game one of their four game series, the Vegas Golden Knights host the Coyotes in another home game. They’ll have played four comfy home games in a row, before flying to Arizona for their next two head-to-head tilts. Robin Lehner and Darcy Kuemper had quite the goaltender duel on Monday evening, with the former reigning supreme.

Tonight’s puck drop is scheduled for 7pm, but before we get there, there are a few notables for the game.

Who’s in Net?

For Vegas, it will be anyone’s guess this season. Pete DeBoer disclosed his new goalie policy in Training Camp. He will not name the starter before game time. Per Sinbin.Vegas, Lehner was the first goalie off the practice ice, which is typical of the game’s starting netminder. What isn’t typical is that all three goalies were on the ice together this morning. We shall see, but it looks like Lehner may get the nod, breaking the 50/50 split strategy.

Line Changes:

On the Golden Knights’ end, there will be a change in the bottom six. Keegan Kolesar will play right wing alongside winger Alex Tuch and center Nicolas Roy. Tomas Nosek will slide back down to his 4C spot. Nic Hague will once again accompany Zach Whitecloud on the blue line.

Go Reavo, It’s Your Birthday!

…What do I do on a birthday? Go home, eat some spaghetti, take a nap, bang a couple bodies on the ice, hopefully score a goal, go home, have a beer and shut it down. That's a nice birthday.…

Who Needs Leads?

Through three games, they’ve scored the first goal just once. Fortunately, they’ve taken the lead back in all three and have three third period victories under their belt. Although they seem to pull it off with no issue, the Golden Knights will be looking to get out to an early lead this evening.

…It’s never easy playing from behind.…
