Training camp is officially around the corner for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the other 31 NHL teams. For the Penguins things will begin on Thursday. Today is the first time we have everybody in town as Kris Letang has arrived from Quebec a few days before camp commences.

With camp here all the players are back to their normal professional selves preparing for the season. Earlier in the summer? Sidney Crosby was living his best life. WE don’t usually get a lot of details about Sidney Crosby’s leisure pursuits away from the rink. Apparently, he was one of the drunkest guys at Nate MacKinnon’s Stanley Cup party and good for him. I think stories like this one humanize him.
Safe to say that Sidney Crosby had a GREAT time at Nathan MacKinnon's Stanley Cup party. 😂

“I’ve been the drunkest guy for two of his [parties], so [Crosby] better be drunk at mine,…
Lastly today, Sonny Milano finally signed a PTO deal. He will be attending Calgary Flames camp. I only bring this up because it is a prime example of a player with some very interesting underlying numbers in areas the Penguins could use help with in regards to their scoring depth. The cost to acquire was nothing. There isn’t even a contract involved.
When you look around the league and see some of the players who got money over the summer(ie: Erik Gudbranson) and who has to slink into a training camp on a PTO (Milano) it is a little weird.
Give me Sonny Milano over the likes of Josh Archibald and Drake Caggiula any day of the week. Just last year the Penguins did pretty OK with a PTO invite when Brian Boyle gave them some depth minutes throughout the course of the season when Evgeni Malkin was out and other injuries added up.
Thanks for reading!
