Big card for a Monday night with 10 games on tap! Plenty of match ups that are critical for teams fighting for playoffs spots as we enter the last 6 weeks of the season. Pay attention to teams coming off a road trip or scenario #1 with rested teams!
**I have started to research teams that come off at least a 5 game road trip and how they fare in their first game back home.** Its 5-3 to date. Arizona is coming off a 7 games roadie, they play Colorado tonight!
Scenario #1 – Teams that are rested, either sitting at home or on the road while their opponent plays the night before. 9-3 in 10 days of tracking it! As well, the under is a nice 7-4-1 in these spots! STL and SJ fit this system tonight.
Scenario #2 – Teams that are playing each other in back to back games, in which the home team loses the first game, the record of the home team in the second game is 58-34.
Scenario #3 – Teams playing back to back road games on consecutive nights tend to go under the total in the 2nd game. So far that trend is 23-21-1 when teams play on the road back to back nights.
Scenario #4 - One last angle I am tracking that is slightly profitable and similar to Scenario #1, is when any team loses the first game of a back to back against the same team, regardless if it’s on the road or at home, those teams are 80-61 in that situation. Canes fit this system tonight.
Quick stat updates - First period totals going over were 2-2 last night and are 219-258 on the season. Road teams were 1-3 last night and are 224-246 on the season. Game totals going over the total were 2-2 last night and are 228-227-14 on the season.
Gamenotes for tonight –
Oilers/Habs – All three have gone under the total and Habs have won 2 of the 3 this season.
Sabres/Rangers – Buffalo rested after two games cancelled against the Bruins on the weekend. All three have been one goal games, all have gone under the total and NYR has won 2 of 3.
Carolina/CLB – Canes got robbed of a win last time out against the Jackets. Lets see if they can snap their losing skid. CLB has won 3 of 5, including the last 2 games by one goal in Carolina.
Flames/Sens – Sens coming off 5 days rest. They are down to their 4th goalie though! Flames off two huge emotional games against Toronto. Sens have won 3 of 5 head to head, plus 4 of 5 have gone over the total.
NYI/Philly – Philly has won 3 of 4, with 3 of 4 going over the total.
Ducks/Wild – Minny has won 3 of 4 head to head, with 3 of 4 going under the total.
Avs/Yotes – AZ off a 7 game road trip! Avs have won 3 of 4 head to head and 3 of 4 have gone under the total.
Jets/Canucks – Vancouver only off a 4 game roadie, but it was 4 fast games in the East, then the flight home, then right back at it keep in mind. Jets have won 3 of 5 this year.
Blues/Vegas – Blues sitting rested, play scenario #1. Vegas has won 2 of 3 head to head this season.
LA/SJ – Sharks sitting rested at home, play scenario #1. Both games head to head have gone over the total this season, while each has won a game against each other this season.
