After years of using trades to acquire their goaltender of the future, the Toronto Maple Leafs have a pair of homegrown products in their prospect pipeline that may be candidates to replace starter Frederik Andersen down the line.

20-year-old Ian Scott made a big leap in 2019, winning CHL Goaltender of the Year and making Team Canada for the 2019 World Junior, and Joseph Woll posted his best collegiate season with Boston College before signing with the Maple Leafs in late March.

Woll won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2017 World Juniors and put up very good numbers in his second WJC appearance in 2018.

Woll and Scott will get their first taste of head-to-head competition at next week’s prospect tournament in Traverse City, MI, but it is expected that one will end up as the primary starter for the Toronto Marlies and the other will be with the Newfoundland Growlers.
