Will an injury undermine and prevent Evander Kane from competing in his first ever career NHL playoff game?
The San Jose Sharks power winger suffered an undisclosed injury last Saturday during a game against the Vegas Golden Knights. The injury forced Kane to sit out Tuesday night’s loss to the Dallas Stars.
Kane has never played in a Stanley Cup playoff game in his nine year NHl career with Buffalo, Winnipeg and Atlanta.
The 26 year old sniper has been handed a bit of adversity to have to deal with before the puck drops on his first foray into playoff hockey.
Kane will sit out his second straight game tonight versus the Colorado Avalanche. Timo Meier will take Kane’s LW TOI beside Joe Pavelski and Joonas Donskoi on the top line.
He's 573 games into his NHL career and Kane will not be letting minor injury get in the way of him helping lead his Sharks to the Stanley Cup Finals.
“I’m feeling better from where I was earlier in the week, for sure,… Kane told the Sharks team website. “Just trying to keep the focus on what’s important. The Sharks have lost four straight games.
Don’t fret. Kane is fully and completely committed to playing in the first round of the Western conference playoffs, which begin next week.
The Sharks will likely play Los Angeles or Anaheim in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
“As long as I’ve two arms and two legs, I’ll be playing no matter what,… Kane said Thursday morning. “Just trying to feel as good as possible for next week.…
Kane has scored nine goals and five assists in 16 games since joining the Sharks in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres in February 26.
