The New York Islanders suffered their second loss of the season last night, falling 2-0 to the New Jersey Devils.

The Islanders did get some chances but struggled to make anything happen off the rush, which was a main source of offense in the first game against the Devils. It wasn’t a terrible effort, as the Islanders did get some good opportunities but they just couldn’t finish. Scott Wedgewood also performed well in net for the Devils.

Something else worth noting is that Anthony Beauvillier left the game and did not return. He’s now listed as day-to-day with an lower body injury.

While the Islanders have won three of five games to start the year, both losses have been shutouts, which isn’t great to see. As of now, the Islanders do have just nine goals in five games to start the year.

This was a game that could’ve gone either way though and the Islanders could’ve came out on top, if some bounces had gone differently. That said, the Islanders do need to work on converting on their chances on a more consistent basis.
