The Carolina Hurricanes made some moves today by placing a goaltender on waivers, claiming another, and also making a trade.
The Hurricanes claimed goaltender Anton Forsberg off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers today. Forsberg was with the Hurricanes organization for the entire 2019-20 season, playing mainly in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, where he posted a .905 save percentage in 27 games. By claiming him, the Hurricanes will have Forsberg on their roster.
The team also placed goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic on waivers, meaning there’s a decent chance another team could claim him. It seems like somewhat of an odd decision that Forsberg was chosen as the third goalie over Nedeljkovic.
Lastly, the Hurricanes made a trade. Carolina acquired defenseman Max Lajoie from the Ottawa Senators, in exchange for forward Clark Bishop. This is a win for the Hurricanes, as far as I’m concerned. Lajoie is entering the final year of his entry-level contract and has played a total of 62 NHL games across two seasons, scoring 15 points. He’s just 23 years old and carries more upside than Clark Bishop.
