The energy that comes with a trade...
Last night we saw two players picked up Wednesday play their first games for their new franchise and bring the kind of energy that comes with the adrenaline of putting on a new sweater...Incredible.. Last night we saw Alex Burrows net 2 to help Ottawa to victory and Filppula net one to get the Flyers two vital points in the standings... Is there anything better than that? These thrills and just seeing a player in new digs is the reason the Trade Deadline has always excited me and that's why I got into this business!

That's right folks! If you played the winners in all 10 games last night from what I am now calling "Ek's PhD Wife's Projected Standings/Cup/Games for Tonight" you would have won big because we went 10-0 last night. Couple that with 2-0 the first night, and we are all sorts of cocky around here! This system is just a result of taking to Mrs Ek about the factors I feel are important in predicting. She wrote this killer formula/secret sauce that so far is making me think we should head to Vegas! (Disclaimer: Even though I first billed this system as "EXACTLY What WILL Happen" and despite so far that has been the case, we are in no way promoting gambling and would be thrilled for the season to simply get more right than wrong. So we just look at 12-0 as a great start...and a lot of fun so far.)
Because all the teams we projected to win did in fact win you will notice not much change in the projected standings from yesterday. The only changes are a result of the losing team either getting the OTL point or NOT getting the OTL point as was predicted. However what makes this system different than other systems out there that predict the playoffs is the fact that all these teams are connected together. A team can fall or rise based on the team's they play the rest of the way rising or falling as well.
But if you want to route toward better projected standings, simply look at the Projected games and know that a better outcome than that which is projected will help them in the end, a worse outcome hurts them and when we get it exactly right nothing will change unless teams on their upcoming schedule change...
