Ducks kick off road trip with 5-3 win over Bruins (Ducks)

Follow me on Twitter: @BenShelley_20 Follow HockeyBuzz Ducks on Twitter: @HB_Ducks The Anaheim Ducks kicked off their five-game road trip with a 5-3 win over the Boston Bruins tonight.

It was an action-packed second period, as Isac Lundestrom used his speed to drive down the wing shorthanded and put a puck through Rask, making it 2-0 Ducks. David Pastrnak pulled the Bruins back to within one with a one-time goal off a pass from Tomas Nosek, but Ryan Getzlaf got the Ducks their two-goal lead back, making a nice move to get around David Pastrnak, before wiring a shot past a screened Rask. Boston would cut the lead to 3-2 on a power play before the end of the frame though, as Brad Marchand found Taylor Hall in front for a tap-in.

Troy Terry gave the Ducks their two-goal advantage once again in the third period, dragging the puck around Charlie McAvoy’s stick to beat Rask with a nice shot. Then later in the frame, Greg Pateryn wound up and put a shot past Rask, increasing Anaheim’s lead to 5-2. While Erik Haula was able to pull the deficit back to two goals, the Ducks held on for a 5-3 win.

It was a solid win to begin the road trip against a strong opponent. The Ducks had a really strong start to the game and while the Bruins did generate chances in the back 40 minutes, Anaheim capitalized on their opportunities. It also marked two games in a row where the Ducks scored five goals, which was great to see after their struggles to bury chances a few games back.

Also, hopefully Nicolas Deslauriers is okay, as he was injured after the hit from Oskar Steen and ended up leaving the game.

The Ducks’ next game comes on Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
