Devils Host Avalanche On Gender Equality Night At The Rock (Devils)

The Colorado Avalanche (41-11-5) will visit the Prudential Center tonight to play the New Jersey Devils (20-31-5) on Gender Equality Night. The Avalanche leads the NHL in points with 87 and are having a terrific season led by Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Nazem Kadri, and Cale Makar. Moreover, it will be a big test for the Devils to see how they measure up against the league’s best.

Cale Makar Vs. Nico Hischier Debate

At the 2017 NHL Draft, the hype was all about Nico Vs. Nolan. But it turns out, this draft class’s top five picks have been pretty impressive overall so far with Hischier and Maker playing against each other tonight. Although disappointed with getting the fourth overall pick during Colorado’s rebuild, Avalanche GM Joe Sakic struck gold anyway when selecting Makar.

Did the Devils make the right choice in selecting Nico Hischier?

In my opinion, yes. Nico Hischier was the right selection at first overall and the Devils will have two elite centermen down the middle till the end of the decade and possibly beyond.

All Female Digital Broadcast

Matt Loughlin and Chico Resch will not be calling the game tonight. As part of the Devils’ Gender Equality Night, Kelly Shultz, voice of Bemidji State Division 1 women’s hockey team, and Erica Ayala, sports writer and has worked on PHF/NWHL broadcasts, will be calling the game tonight on Devils Hockey Network.

Also, the night will include the first ever gender equality themed warm-up jerseys created by a local artist Amrisa Niranjan.

Jaromir Jagr Video

Jaromir Jagr chose No. 68 to honor his grandfather who survived the Soviet Union’s invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. Jagr put out a video about a charity game that he is organizing in Prague. The money raised is to benefit those in Ukraine affected by the devastating war.
