Coyotes Play Well, but Intermissions Are So Boring (Kessel)

For two periods the Coyotes were absolutely dominant last night - but then I fell asleep.

You'll have to cut me some slack, trying to stay awake through an NHL intermission is a physical impossibility.

A hockey intermission is worse than a self-serve checkout at a store. And those things are awful. If I wanted to work at Walmart, I would at least make sure I was getting paid.

I mean, I'll pump my own gas (I ain't no fatcat) but I ain't bagging my own groceries.

Anyways, unlike a contemporary shopping experience, the game last night - or two thirds of it - was pretty good.

Last I remember, the Coyotes were outshooting Nashville something like 26 -7 and completely controlling play.

Phil Kessel got his first goal.

Nick Schmaltz and Christian Dvorak continued to make general manager John Chayka look like a genius, and Kuemper, well, he didn't have to show up, but he did.

Turns out Kessel got two goals! Who knew?

"How does he do it?" Raanta quipped, while emptying his third box of band-aids of the day.

The Coyotes are now 3-3 on the season with a dud point, which still only puts them tenth in the West, but they've been playing great, mostly due to amazing goaltending, and could easily be 6-0 if they had of scored any goals in the first two games (and got lucky in O.T against the Avs).

The Coyotes have allowed 11 goals in six games, by far the best in the league. Unfortunately, they've only scored 16 goals which speaks to the need to acquire a top-line scorer.

Overall, a strong start to the season.
