Update: Per the team, Oilers Entertainment Group CEO Bob Nicholson will oversee hockey operations until a new GM is hired
Following another disappointing home loss to Detroit on Tuesday, the Edmonton Oilers yielded to the demands of their fanbase and fired GM Peter Chiarelli.
This decision was inevitable based on the struggles of the Oilers this season and after Ken Hitchcock replaced Todd McLellan earlier in the year, Chiarelli's head was clearly on the chopping block.
Keith Gretzky will take over as interim GM, but the question is what do the Oilers do going forward???
