The Montreal Canadiens announced the hiring of former NHL defenseman Luke Richardson as their Defense coach.
The move is lauded by some in the hockey community as his reputation as a smart, capable coach has preceded him over his last 8 years as an Assistant coach in Ottawa/New York and as a head coach for Binghamton at the AHL level.
The Habs are building something very special. Feeling heat...fighting fire with hires in Montreal and Laval...congratulations Luke ...having brightened so careers...a pefect choice for the famous torch. https://t.co/FbulxP8nbq

The 1417 game NHL vet now completes a pretty incredible bench with Claude Julien, Kirk Muller, Dominque Ducharme, and Stephane Waite. There is no shortage of knowledge and ability on the bench for the upcoming season and we are likely to see some positive trends as a result.
The bench has Cup winners, Gold medal winners, and arguably the best goaltending coach in the game.
The Canadiens organization added top junior coach Joel Bouchard to start preparing the farm team in a much more efficient manner as well with the recently retired Burrows. This has been an incredible offseason from a coaching and development standpoint.
The Ottawa native boasts over 600 games of NHL and AHL coaching experience on his resume.

Add to this the fantastic draft they just had, the clear steals from the previous draft in Poehling and Primeau, and the great potential signings of Verbeek, Evans, Alain, and Peca and this youth movement could show signs of success relatively early compared to the "Scorched Earth" 3-5 year rebuild. The scorched earth method would come with the same assurance level of what they are doing now, but stretched over a much longer period.
Posts may be a bit infrequent folks, I'm in crunch time with finding a new home and have been crazy busy searching, visiting, and crafting offers on homes. I'll do my best to get HockeyBuzz the most up to date info with my slant on matters.
Thanks again for the support.
