Can you watch a Michigan game in Columbus? (Red Wings)

Dylan Larkin posed an interesting question as the Detroit Red Wings packed to hit the road for Tuesday’s game at Columbus against the Blue Jackets. Is it permissible to watch the Michigan Wolverines play while you are in Columbus and staying in the backyard of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan’s hated rival? Larkin, who played at Michigan before turning pro with the Red Wings, planned to spend his Monday night glued to the television set, watching the Wolverines face the Villanova Wildcats in the NCAA Basketball Tournament final. It it’s not against the law in the Buckeye State, that is. “Hopefully they have that on TV there,… Larkin told Detroitredwings.com. “I don’t know if they allow that in Columbus. “If not, we’ll find a way to get it on.… While dealing with the demands of a busy NHL schedule, Larkin has done his best to monitor the progress of his old school as they progressed through the tournament. “It was nice on Saturday (when Michigan beat Loyola Chicago in the semifinals of the Final Four),… Larkin said. “We had an early game, so we finally got to watch the game and it was fun. “It was really exciting. (Michigan power forward) Mo Wagner, he’s a beast. It was fun to watch. He’s a good player.… Even those in the Detroit dressing room who’d normally spit venom in the direction of the Wolverines are willing to consider the possibility of rooting for the Maize and Blue for one night. “Yes, I would like to see them win,… said Detroit left-winger Justin Abdelkader, who scored the game-winning goal for the Michigan State Spartans in the 2007 NCAA Hockey Championship final. “You want to see the Big Ten do well and Michigan, obviously has had a great run. “It’s been fun to watch and I’d like to see a new National Champion.… But then, Abdelkader suddenly was overcome with a reality check. “Villanova has been the best team all year,… Abdelkader said. “I think they’re going to be tough to contend with, so it will be a close game, but I’ll go with Villanova.… With a 9:20 p.m. tip off, the biggest problem facing the Wings might be staying awake for the whole game, since they need to be up and at ’em early in the a.m. for Tuesday’s morning skate. “It’s a late game,… Larkin said, before uttering a phrase never before heard from a basketball fan. “I don’t know if I’ll be able to stay up the whole game, but I’m excited to watch the first half.… Follow me on Twitter @asktheduffer
