The Calgary Flames have traded Jyrki Jokipakka and a 2nd round pick to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Curtis Lazar and Mike Kostka.
I believe Lazar is a better player than he has shown thus far -- it's pretty hard not to be! -- and will benefit from a change of scenery, however, this is a lot to give up for a player with one point in 33 games this season, especially considering he'll need to be protected in the expansion draft this summer.
I'll have more on this deal tomorrow.

Trade deadline day is finally here.
While the Calgary Flames took care of some business in advance of the deadline -- they traded for Michael Stone and signed Matt Bartkowski -- there is still plenty of potential for activity.
It's been widely reported that the Flames would like another winger to add another layer of offense to the team. Many, myself included, have pointed to P.A. Parenteau as a potential fit and the team has also recently been linked to Radim Vrbata.
Something to consider, I suppose, for teams thinking of trading for Vrbata... I'm told Calgary is among teams with interest

The latter would certainly cost more, and rightfully so, but I think either guy would be a nice fit.
Acquiring yet another depth defensemen is also a possibility for the Flames, especially if they're able to find a suitor for Dennis Wideman.
Then there's goaltending. Brian Elliott has played very well of late but the Flames seem keen on adding another netminder -- likely to take Chad Johnson's spot.
Marc-Andre Fleury is the big name on the market but the more realistic, and cost efficient, option is likely Jaroslav Halak, whom the rival Edmonton Oilers also appear interested in.
I wouldn't expect anything earth shattering from the Flames. That said, it seems likely they'll make a move or two.
It should be a fun day. Stick around, will you?
