Bertuzzi out next two games (Red Wings)

The Detroit Red Wings haven’t played a game since Jan. 22 but as they returned to the ice from their bye week to practice on Friday, another member of the team was added to the injury list. Left-winger Tyler Bertuzzi will miss Friday’s home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and Saturday’s road date against the Senators in Ottawa due to an upper-body injury. “Bert’s playing real good hockey so it’s unfortunate that he won’t be available tomorrow or Saturday, but that’s the way life goes in pro sports,… Wings coach Jeff Blashill told Detroitredwings.com. Bertuzzi suffered the injury in Detroit’s last game prior to the break, a 3-2 win at Edmonton over the Oilers. “He didn’t play much in the third, if at all,… Blashill said. It’s About Frk Time The Bertuzzi injury led to a couple of adjustments in the forward lines Friday. Justin Abdelkader moved up to skate alongside Dylan Larkin and Gustav Nyquist on the top line and Martin Frk drew into Abdelkader’s spot on the fourth line. “I moved Abdelkader back up to that spot because I thought he had done a real good job there prior, so we’ll see if we make any further adjustments as we go along here,… Blashill said. “Hopefully, other guys pick up where Bert left off. I thought Bert was playing real good hockey.… Frk last saw action Dec. 31 against the Florida Panthers. He’s been a healthy scratch the past 10 games. “It’s been a crazy season for me,… Frk said. “Most of the games I’m in the stands. I don’t even remember when I play a game the last time. “It will be hard for me but I’ve got to try to get into it as soon as I can. It’s not a great spot to be in but you’ve got to go battle through your challenges and just be ready to play.… Rasmussen Plans Blashill outlined the gameplan for forward Michael Rasmussen, assigned Wednesday to a conditioning stint with AHL Grand Rapids. Rasmussen, who’s missed the past eight games due to a hamstring injury, was to play AHL games on Thursday and Friday and then return to Detroit. “It’s been a long stretch between the injury and then the break where he hadn’t played, so to throw him back in, we just felt it was a little bit better for him and his development to go to GR, play a couple games, then come back here and be ready to play,… Blashill said. “Again, I think the biggest thing with Ras is we’re looking at a long-term approach, what’s best for Michael Rasmussen long-term in the process of trying to win games and be successful here?… Follow me on Twitter @asktheduffer
