Ok...to be clear this is something I heard during the season, but it felt like such a longshot that I chose to ignore it at the time...
Now, there are some rumors out there saying the Preds could be moving Subban and that they may be already talking to teams. When looking at rumors you need to evaluate the sources and when looking at Nashville rumors specifically you need to know one thing: David Poile never leaks ANYTHING to anyone, and it is safe to say that even the best of the Canadian media guys really hdon't have any clue as to what's going on behind the scenes in Tennessee..It is a very tight lipped organization and Poile runs it all to perfection.
Also, many of these rumors this year started because PK had a down year, but honestly you should know the guy played so many games injured which many players wouldn't even have attempted. PK is loved in Nashville and PK loves Nashville. His cap hit is intense of course, but the guy is a recent Norris Trophy winner and will go through the wall for you.
There is no denying that hosting only three home playoff games is a disaster for the Nashville Predators. Teams in markets like Nashville rely heavily on playoff revenue to make money. The Preds lost money this year. There is also talk out there that Peter Laviolette's voice maybe losing some of its power in the locker room. While it is true that Peter tends to have an expiration date I am told that we aren't close to that yet but Nashville and that Peter has learned a lot over the years about extending his expiration date.
If the Preds were to move PK you can only assume it would be to a place PK would want to go. Poile truly respects Subban...
So why am I writing this article now?
This morning I talked to a key source in Montreal and another at the NHL office who strongly suggested talks were underway, only in the exploratory stages, to possibly bring PK back to Montréal. The Montréal source went further to say there was a "huge appetite for this move..big time," adding, "PK would fit like a glove in the lineup the young players learn how to play the right way."
I will of course stay on top of this...
NOTE: I have moved the launch of the Rumor Chart to Monday morning. Sorry for any inconvenience, but There is just too much information and I don't quite have enough RAM in my brain right now to put it together as quickly as I thought I could. It's going to be a hell of a summer in the Rumor World kids...
