10 not-so-bold predictions for the NHL trade deadline; Thur's Buzz (NHL trade deadline)

With the countdown to Monday's NHL Trade Deadline underway, here are 10 not-so-bold predictions about what we will see before Monday:

1. Tampa Bay Lightning will acquire a player, even though Julien BriseBois had said they aren't in a salary cap position to do anything. BriseBois always has an ace up his sleeve when it comes to cap management.

2. Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman will make a move that no one saw coming.

3. That move will not involve Tyler Bertuzzi, despite all the angst in Detroit about his future.

4. Nashville general manager David Poile, the man who has made more NHL trade deadline moves than anyone in NHL history, will only make a small deal this year for a No. 4, No. 5 or No. 6 defenseman.

5. The Blackhawks will give Minnesota general manager Bill Guerin permission to talk to Marc-Andre Fleury about going there.

6. Maple Leafs fans will end up disappointed about the Toronto deadline activities.

7. Carolina will make one move for a defenseman.

8. If the Rangers don't get Jakob Chychrun, they will land Hampus Lindholm or Mark Giordano

9. Much of this year's NHL trade deadline action will happen this weekend.

10. The Predators will announce a new contract for Filip Forsberg. They can't afford to let him get away from a competitive or a public relations perspective.
