Part II

Russ Cohen's 2020 Mock Draft.

1) New York Rangers – LW - Alexis Lafreniere – A no-brainer. Put him on the second line to start. His two-way game gives him a leg up compared to rookies who don’t.

2) Los Angeles Kings – C – Quinton Byfield – The Kings can’t pass on a natural center who has speed and can be physical.

3) Ottawa Senators – W - Tim Stutzle – Ottawa wanted to draft a player who can play in the NHL right away. He can do that but not at the center position.

4) Detroit Red Wings – C - Cole Perfetti – Steve Yzerman tested him in his interviews and the kid passed the test. He’s smart, a terrific offensive talent and a leader.

5) Ottawa Senators – D - Jamie Drysdale – He’s the best defenseman in the draft and he can be a top four when he’s ready. He and Thomas Chabot will be a lot of puck moving and offense someday soon.

6) Anaheim Ducks – C - Marco Rossi – He can do it all. He has a dirty side and a terrific offensive side. He may be a top liner someday but has a chance to play right away with the Ducks.

7) New Jersey Devils – W - Alexander Holtz – He could have the best shot in the draft, if not, one of them. His passing isn’t talked about enough and when his speed improves, NJ will have a sniper they’ve been looking for.

8) Buffalo Sabres – D - Jake Sanderson – There are too many NTDP voices at the draft table to pass him up.

9) Minnesota Wild – W - Lucas Raymond – A safe pick to get this terrific offensive talent who can play an all-around game and has a lot of upside.

10) Winnipeg Jets – RW - Jack Quinn – The Jets need a proven goal scorer especially if they lose Patrik Laine.

11) Nashville Predators – C - Anton Lundell – A solid two-way player who I believe will get more goals down the road.

12) Florida Panthers – RW - Seth Jarvis – Too much offensive potential for them to pass on.

13) Carolina Hurricanes – RW - Dawson Mercer – He creates a lot of offense on his own and with his teammates.

14) Edmonton Oilers – G - Yaroslav Askarov – He’s a potential franchise goalie and the Oilers don’t currently have one.

15) Toronto Maple Leafs – W - Noel Gunler – This Swede checks off all the boxes that the Leafs look for.

16) Montreal Canadiens – C - Mavrik Bourque – The Canadians need centers in their system.

17) Chicago Blackhawks – C - Dylan Holloway – This is a value pick and the Blackhawks need system centers.

18) New Jersey Devils – D - Kaiden Guhle – A fast, physical, offensive defenseman the Devils need that in their system.

19) Calgary Flames - LW - Rodion Amirov – Big, offensive, two-way forward, Calgary likes that.

20) New Jersey Devils – LW - Ridly Greig – A solid all-around forward who can make it to the NHL.

21) Columbus Blue Jackets – LW - John-Jason Peterka – Another potential DEL player with lots of offensive potential.

22) New York Rangers -C - Connor Zary – He has a lot of offense in his game whether it’s from the center or wing position.

23) Philadelphia Flyers – RW - Tyson Foerster – A big scorer who wreaks havoc in the offensive zone with a physical edge.

24) Colorado Avalanche – C - Jacob Perrault – He has a great shot and has a second-generation bloodline.

25) Washington Capitals – D - William Wallinder – The Caps need a big, puck moving defenseman in their system.

26) St. Louis Blues – C - Brendan Brisson – A fast, playmaker with a lot of hockey sense.

27) Anaheim Ducks – C - Hendrix Lapierre – A terrific offensive talent who lost too many games to injury in his draft year.

28) Ottawa Senators – D - Braden Schneider – An offensive defenseman with a strong defensive game. Second-pairing potential.

29) Vegas Golden Knights – D - Helge Grans – Strong skating, puck moving defenseman with an offensive game.

30) Dallas Stars – LW - Lukas Reichel – Offensive winger who is dangerous around the net.

31) San Jose Sharks – C/W - Jan Mysak – Has center potential, smart with excellent game speed.
