Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. Due to the playoff run, it’s been a long time since I’ve done a poll review, but here are this week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: Did New York’s deep playoff run surprise you?

(Votes: 153)

Yes: 65%
No: 35%

I’d say the run surprised me in the sense that before the playoffs, I wouldn’t have expected the Islanders to get to the Conference Final. However, looking at their route and breaking it down by individual opponents, I wasn’t surprised to see them knock off Florida, Washington or Philadelphia.

QUESTION: How many points do you expect from Anthony Beauvillier next season?

(Votes: 112)

55-60 points: 39%
50-55 points: 29%
More than 60 points: 16%
Less than 50 points: 15%

Like I said in the article, I expect Beauvillier to be around 55 points next season. I’d certainly say that I agree with the 85 per cent of readers who voted that Beauvillier would reach at least 50 points and I do think if he didn’t hit that mark, it would be a disappointment.

QUESTION: Will the Islanders trade Josh Bailey this offseason?

(Votes: 288)

No: 74%
Yes: 26%

The Islanders need to clear cap space and Bailey is one of the few players they could move and still get assets back for. There are certainly other ways to clear cap space but there’s a good chance it means the Islanders giving back assets the other way as well.

QUESTION: Will Noah Dobson have a permanent spot in the lineup next season?

(Votes: 131)

Yes: 82%
No: 18%

Dobson wasn’t ready for a full-time role this season but hopefully he will be next year. It would work well if Leddy was moved and Dobson took on a role on the bottom pairing with Johnny Boychuk.
