Every article, I try to include a poll question for readers to vote on, then review the results from the week’s polls every weekend. I’m quite late on this, but here are last week’s poll results and my thoughts on how they turned out.

QUESTION: What are your long-term expectations for Timur Ibragimov?

(Votes: 72)

Doesn’t make/doesn’t stay in the NHL: 39%
I don’t know enough about him: 35%
Bottom-six forward: 19%
Top-six forward: 7%

I’ll admit that I just don’t know enough about him to make an assessment and would have to see him play quite a bit before taking a guess. His stats don’t project him as a top-six forward but I wouldn’t be as pessimistic about him becoming a bottom-six forward as the poll may suggest. For a sixth-round pick, he is at least somewhat promising.

QUESTION: How do you feel about San Jose’s defense after trading Dillon?

(Votes: 81)

Slightly less confident: 44%
Much less confident: 35%
No different: 20%
Much more confident: 1%
Slightly more confident: 0%

I’m definitely with the 79 per cent here that's at least somewhat less confident in San Jose's defense without Dillon. There’s going to be a sizeable hole on the left side in the top-four and we really have no idea if either Radim Simek or Mario Ferraro are going to be able to take that step anytime soon. It was a necessary trade and he would’ve been gone in the offseason anyways but it leaves San Jose in a bad spot.

QUESTION: How do you think Kane has performed in San Jose?

(Votes: 71)

Met expectations: 48%
Surpassed expectations: 48%
Failed to meet expectations: 4%

Obviously, there’s more to a game than offensive production but coming to San Jose, we knew that’s where Kane’s strength was. As a result, him boosting that offensive production to me means that he’s surpassed expectations.
