The Los Angeles Kings picked up a 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars yesterday, improving to a 11-10-4 record.

The Kings came out flying and dominated early in the first period. They had Dallas on their heels early on, managing 14 shots before the Stars got anything on net. Despite this and some good chances on the rush though, the game remained scoreless after 20 minutes.

The Kings opened the scoring under a minute into the second period, as Adrian Kempe used his speed to get in alone and beat Jake Oettinger. While it was certainly a more even frame and the Stars started generating more chances, the Kings were still leading in shots by a margin of 30-19 by the end of the second period.

Los Angeles did a solid job shutting down opportunities for Dallas in the third period, limiting the Stars to just eight shots. The game remained 1-0 until there was about five minutes left in the final frame, when Arthur Kaliyev took a pass from Rasmus Kupari and beat Oettinger from a good spot to double the lead. The Kings would add two empty net goals after that, securing a 4-0 win.

While things evened out after a lopsided start to the night, this was still a strong game for the Kings. They got off to a great start and fired 41 shots on net, which marked the second time in the last three games in which they’ve reached 40 shots. Andreas Athanasiou also returned to the lineup and picked up an empty net goal, having missed six games in COVID Protocol,

Jonathan Quick did have to be very good though and came up with some key saves. He continues to be the team’s better netminder by far this year.

It was a good bounce back win for the Kings, who will now face another tough challenge tomorrow night, as they host the Minnesota Wild.
