Demidov and Caufield Star in Montreal Canadiens Third Straight Victory (Montreal Canadiens)

Habs win three straight!

The Montreal Canadiens hosted their home opener vs the Kraken last night and it was quite a game! As usual, the Habs had quite the opening ceremony with a touching tribute to Ken Dryden. Montreal is known for its class and attention to detail when it comes to these situations and yesterday was no different.

Now onto the game! Overall it was a good game for both teams. The Kraken have a solid 4 lines filled with veterans and youth alike, and they really make it difficult 5-5 for opposing teams. They teams traded goals all game long, and late in the third, the Kraken were up 4-3 until Demidov was able to bury a beautiful backhand goal. He showed a lot of patience as most players would have just fired it immediately, but he had the wherewithal to go to the backhand and tie the game with just under 3 minutes in the game.

A great goal and all game he was a threat, ending with 1G and 1 beautiful assist on Alex Newhook's goal. He's really coming into his own, and it's awesome that the Habs have several offensive threats on every line.

Cole Caufield also had a great game with two goals, one being a laser beam to win the game. I don't know how he found that spot, but wow what a shooter.

All in all, it's great to see the Habs begin the season with momentum and a 3-1 record. This is exactly the start they need if they want to be a higher seed than last year when playoff time comes around!

Also of note, the Canadiens signed both Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to five year contract extensions. This is thoroughly deserved, as they have built an incredible speedy team with drafting, savvy trades, patience and impeccable player evaluation, while establishing a healthy cap culture. Great job gentlemen!
