Desert Game Night (nashville)

What? The world didn’t end early this morning? Congrats to the Cubbies on winning the World Series last night (despite’s manager Joe Madden’s best efforts to blow it.) So… let’s turn our attention to tonight’s road trip finisher in the desert as the Nashville Predators will take on the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena. The Preds can salvage a .500 record on this trip with a win and come back to Smashville with a little wind behind their backs.

The Arizona Coyotes come into the game below the Preds in the standings coming off a huge win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night and looking to right their ship… sound familiar? The team is dealing with injuries, most importantly, their goaltender, Mike Smith is on IR. Louis Domingue has been doing yeoman’s work in relief posting two of the team’s three wins.

Arizona is a young team and should be able to match the Preds speed but is probably a year away from real contention in the Western Conference, but with the Pacific Division being wide open, a playoff spot is not out of the question for these desert dogs.

The Preds are looking to build off a win of their own, their dominating 5-1 victory over Colorado. The question for Pred fans surrounds the status of Mike Fisher, who did not return to Tuesday’s game after the second period. His status is day-to-day and we should find out at day-of-game skate a little bit more about his status. Expect Pekka Rinne in net tonight and Kevin Fiala to be back in the lineup after Tuesday’s scratch, especially if Fisher can’t go.

Game time is 9pm CT, local coverage on Fox Sports Tennessee and 102.5 the Game.
