The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Tomas Hertl to an eight-year contract extension, which carries a $8.14 million cap hit. Hertl was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Itβs a major extension, keeping Hertl with the Sharks until 2030, when heβll be 36 years old. While Hertl is a key forward for the Sharks itβs still an interesting decision to see him re-signed to a long-term deal, considering his age and where the organization is at right now.
