The San Jose Sharks are looking to trade forward Evander Kane and would be willing to retain salary to do so, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Kane has been suspended to start the season, after violating COVID protocols. He’ll be eligible to return to the Sharks’ lineup next Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils. The forward scored 22 goals and 49 points in 56 games last season and is on a contract with the Sharks until 2025, which carries a $7 million cap hit. For now, he’s been practicing away from the team. While it seems unlikely that anyone would be willing to trade for him, why not give it a try? It seems as though the team doesn’t want him back in the lineup (at least right now) and if there’s a chance of potentially being able to get his contract off the books, even with salary retained, it’s worth a shot. ***NOTE: We've launched a HockeyBuzz Sharks Twitter account!
