The jersey has letters running diagonally down the jersey in similar fashion to that of the New York Rangers. According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Hurricanes' owner Tom Dundon didn't like their current away uniforms, which is why there were times the team wore their home jerseys on the road. The uniform also includes warning flags on the bottom of the jersey, an element also seen on the team's home jerseys.
