"Due to a medical exemption that prevents me from taking the COVID-19 vaccine, under the new League protocols, I am not permitted to fulfill my duties on the Sharks coaching staff at this time," said Thompson in a statement. "I will have no further comment on this matter." Last year was Thompson’s first year as a member of San Jose’s coaching staff. The Sharks’ statement says the team will name a replacement in the near future. ***NOTE: We've launched a HockeyBuzz Sharks Twitter account!
