After losing 2-1 against Toronto last night, the Canadiens have a golden opportunity to get back on track tonight when they’ll visit the Buffalo Sabres. Last season, the Sabres had only 37 points to show for their efforts and this year should be tough as well in Buffalo. Just like the Canadiens’ the Sabres are without their captain Jack Eichel, although he has now been stripped of the captaincy after the disagreement with the team over the best course of action to repair his herniated disk. It’s no secret that Eichel wants out of Buffalo, and the sooner it happens the better for everyone at this stage.
After Jake Allen played a very solid game in Toronto last night, Dominique Ducharme might be tempted to give the net to Samuel Montembeault as this will be a second game in as many days.
When the pandemic struck back in March 2020, the Canadiens were about to play the Sabres but the game got postponed. Had that game taken place and had the Sabres won, they would have been invited to the bubble playoffs in Toronto instead of the Canadiens as their winning percentage would have been higher than Montreal’s one. There’s no telling how that would have gone but maybe, just maybe, the team wouldn’t have reached breaking point with their star forward and Eichel would be in the line-up tonight ready to lead the Sabres to battle…We’ll never know but it could have been a real game changer…
Dominique Ducharme confirme que Samuel Montembeault sera devant le filet ce soir. Il n'y aura aucun autre changement à la formation.
