* Scary incident late in the 1st with Duncan Keith colliding hard into the end boards after getting corkscrewed in a foot race and battle for the puck with Sam Lafferty.
* Marc-Andre Fleury bounced back after a few prior shaky starts with a stellar performance in net saving 40 of 41 shots with the lone tally allowed being on a frenzy in the crease during an Oilers power play.
* The Hawks blocked 22 total shots with the blueliners collecting 18 of them as Calvin de Haan and Jake McCabe led the way with 5 and 4 respectively.
* While he may get outskated frequently, Dylan Strome makes things happen when he does get to the puck not just offensively by playmaking and putting shots on net but also defensively by making smarter reads and clears.
* A multi-point night is hopefully a jump starter for Kirby Dach so he can ramp up his confidence and contributions; at least he continues to be reliable defensively especially as his gap management is much improved.
* With Dominik Kubalik and Henrik Borgstrom, the effort is there on most shifts but you want to get more mileage out of them given their skill level; they're both simply not producing enough.
