Recent Hawks news cycle also uncovered that chief executive officer Danny Wirtz may be preferring incumbent Davidson while president of business operations Jaime Faulkner is advocating for a candidate outside of hockey which would be Greenberg. Her husband Colin is notably a Cubs executive.
Where does that leave the third finalist Darche? Of the trio, Darche may have more convincing credentials helping as an architect of the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Lightning plus a track record in terms of not only hockey operations but also NHL playing experience (250 games).

Trade Rumors
Interest in de Haan climbing https://t.co/3PGEuBLaHg
— The Fourth Period (@TFP) February 24, 2022
On the one hand, de Haan at face value -- and when considered on his own merit -- isn't worth a 1st rounder. Though, on the other hand, veteran rearguards who can play top 4, munch minutes, and play shutdown defense are coveted. Thus once Chiarot is taken, demand for de Haan may go up.
