The San Jose Sharks have loaned many players overseas, with the start of both the NHL and AHL seasons still months away. However, few have found success early in the season like forwards Marcus Sorensen and Jonathan Dahlen.
Playing in Sweden’s second-highest professional league, both players have been dominant thus far, playing with different teams. Sorensen, has been playing with HC Vita Hasten, while Dahlen returned to Timra IK.
So far, Sorensen has 10 goals and 20 points in 12 games, which has him leading his team by a significant margin. The second-highest scorer on the team has just 10 points, in the same number of games. Those stats have him leading the entire Allsvenskan in points and second in points per game average.
Who’s the one player ahead of Sorensen in points per game?
Jonathan Dahlen. In just eight games, Dahlen has seven goals and a ridiculous 19 points. While that production likely won’t be sustainable, it’s significantly higher than his 1.51 points per game average from last year.

As for Dahlen, he’s one of two restricted free agents in the Sharks organization still in need of a contract. His first run in North America in the 2018-19 season didn’t go overly well, however, he won Allsvenskan MVP once again in his return to Sweden last season. Hopefully, he can still develop into a solid NHL forward, given what we’ve seen from him in Europe.
It’s certainly a promising sign for the Sharks to see Sorensen and Dahlen off to such a great start in Sweden and hopefully, this is a positive sign for things to come.
